Word: How to change 12333 (English/Western numerals) to Arabic-Indic numerals (١٢٣٣٣)?

If Microsoft Word is showing 12333 (English/Western numerals) and you want Arabic-Indic numerals (١٢٣٣٣), follow these steps:

Method 1: Change Numeral Setting in Word

Word 2016 / 2019 / 2021 / Microsoft 365

1. Open Word
2. Click File → Options
3. Select Advanced
4. Scroll down to Show document content
5. Find Numeral
6. Change it from Arabic to:
   • Hindi → Always shows Arabic-Indic digits (١٢٣٤٥٦٧٨٩٠)
   • Context → Changes according to the language being used
7. Click OK

Hindi	١٢٣٤٥
Context	Depends on text language

Method 2: Change Windows Regional Settings

If Method 1 doesn't work:

1. Open Control Panel
2. Go to Region
3. Click Additional Settings
4. Find Use Native Digits
5. Select National
6. Click Apply → OK

Method 3: For Arabic Documents Only

1. Select the Arabic text.
2. Go to Review → Language → Set Proofing Language
3. Choose Arabic
4. Then set Numeral = Context in Word Options.

Now numbers typed inside Arabic text will appear as:

• 2026 → ٢٠٢٦
• 12345 → ١٢٣٤٥

Type:

عام 2026

After enabling Arabic numerals, it should display:

عام ٢٠٢٦
