MS Word: Header ചെറുതാക്കാൻ Reduce Header Distance from Top

 If you want to use the maximum top area of the page and reduce the header space in Microsoft Word:

Method 1: Reduce Header Distance from Top

  1. Double-click inside the Header area.
  2. The Header & Footer tab will open.
  3. Look for Header from Top (or "Position" group).
  4. Reduce the value:
    • Default is often 0.5" (1.27 cm).
    • Change it to 0.2" (0.5 cm) or even 0.1" (0.25 cm) if needed.

Method 2: Reduce Top Margin

  1. Go to Layout → Margins → Custom Margins.
  2. Reduce the Top margin.
    • Example:
      • Top: 1 cm
      • Bottom: 1 cm
      • Left: 2 cm
      • Right: 2 cm
  3. Click OK.

Method 3: Remove Empty Lines in Header

Sometimes the header looks large because of blank paragraphs.

  1. Double-click the header.
  2. Place the cursor inside the header.
  3. Delete any empty lines above or below the content.
  4. Reduce paragraph spacing:
    • Home → Paragraph → Line and Paragraph Spacing → Remove Space After Paragraph

If you are preparing certificates, translations, visa documents, or reports:

  • Top Margin: 1 cm
